The Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs has met with members of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ) at Government House before their annual meeting scheduled for today in Bangkok.
Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam gave them a warm welcome and wished them success in the meeting. Thuan Huu, the Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA), as president of the CAJ in the years 2015-2017, thanked Dr. Wissanu for meeting them, while indicating that the major role of the CAJ is to act as a coordinator among members of the media in the ASEAN bloc, and the 19th General Assembly today will be a platform for CAJ members to exchange ideas on several subjects.
Dr. Wissanu stated that Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has relayed a message, asking CAJ members to continue to work together. The Prime Minister also praised the VJA for doing a splendid job as president of the CAJ and congratulated the Confederation of Thai Journalists on succeeding to the position for the next term.
The Confederation of ASEAN Journalists currently has press members from all ASEAN countries except Myanmar and Brunei Darussalam.
