The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment has played host to a special discussion on environmental management of the area where the Eastern Economic Corridor project is located.
Gen. Surasak Karnjanarat, Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, on Wednesday chaired the meeting to discuss the management of natural resources and the environment, which was attended by representatives of related offices from Chon Buri, Chachoengsao, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat.
? Gen. Sursak told participants that the discussion of the issue, which is intended for implementation in the EEC area, is expected to ensure an effective environmental management plan and the prevention of encroachment and damage to forest resources in this area.
The minister also stressed that the EEC project is a strategic plan, which is a part of the Thailand 4.0 policy and intended to be a vehicle to achieve further success, similar to that enjoyed by the Eastern Seaboard project when it was implemented over 30 years ago.
He added that the EEC project aims to help elevate the standards of the country’s industrial sector to compete more efficiently on an international stage and achieve sustainable economic growth, with its primary focus on Chon Buri, Rayong and Chachoengsao.
