The Armed Forces Development Command has deployed a group of soldiers to several communities in Phatthalung province to dredge canals, making room for more water in preparation for the approaching dry season.
Solders from the 4th Regional Development Office of the Armed Forces Development Command were sent to 12 communities in Ranod district to dredge canals, in an effort to increase water storage capacity. The canals supply water for residents in Ban Pak Muang, Ban Kon Baek and Ban Khlong Pho.
Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture has warned local green bean farmers of summer pests, including leaf hoppers, leaf rollers and cutworms. Leaf hopper larvae feed on plant sap, which can cause significant damage to the plants, while leaf rollers and cutworms feed on the leaves. The department suggested the farmers take the necessary precautions.
