An award ceremony has been held to recognize people who have committed good deeds for the society. One of the recipients was the rock star “Toon Bodyslam”, who led a fundraising campaign for 11 hospitals.
The Good People (Thailand) Foundation, in cooperation with CP All Plc, organized the presentation ceremony for the Good People Award 2016-2017, which was presided over by Phra Phrom Bandit, abbot of Wat Prayurawongsawat and member of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand. The award, which is divided into five categories, is intended to honor individuals who have committed selfless acts for others in the society.
The Honorary Award went to Mr. Athiwara Khongmalai, aka Toon Bodyslam, who spearheaded the “Step by Step” charity run campaign, in which over one billion baht has been raised for the purchase of medical equipment for 11 hospitals nationwide.
Other winners were a taxi driver who gives free rides to the sick and the disabled in the general public category, a retired teacher who has volunteered to teach at various schools for free in the good conscience category, and a secondary school student in Prachuap Khiri Khan who rescued victims of a car accident in the youth category.
And in the media category, the award was given to 16 TV and radio programs as well as printed and online articles that contributed to the promotion of morality and ethics in the society. One of the recipients in this category was NBT’s “Thammarat Thammarat” program, and NBT Executive Director Kittisak Hankla was there to accept the award on the channel’s behalf.
